Morgoths Fluch

Nach der Schlacht der Ungezählten Tränen (Nirnaeth Arnoediad) ließ Morgoth Húrin zu sich bringen. Húrin verhöhnte ihn, daraufhin verfluchte Morgoth ihn, seine Frau Morwen und ihre Kinder. Dann setzte er Húrin auf einen Hochsitz Thangorodrims und sprach:

Sit now here; and look out upon the lands where evil and despair shall come upon those whom thou lovest. Thou hast dared to mocke me, and to question the power of Melkor, Master of the fates of Arda. Therefore with me eyes you shalt see, and with my ears thou shalt hear; and never shalt you move from this place until all is fulfilled unto its bitter end. (The Silmarillion, Of the Fifth Battle)

Morgoths Fluch erfüllte sich tatsächlich in der tragischen Geschichte der Kinder Húrins, Túrin Turambar und Nienor Níniel.
